GSK Celebrates 25th IMPACT Awards, Boosting Investments Now Totaling $13M to Improve Health in RTP and Greater Philadelphia

20 nonprofits each receive $50,000 for work in mentoring, providing access to food, fighting homelessness and more

GSK is honoring 20 nonprofits from the Research Triangle Park (RTP) and Greater Philadelphia regions today for their outstanding contributions to providing life improving and sustaining services and resources, reinforcing healthy habits, and serving those in need. The 20 IMPACT Award winners (10 per region) each are receiving $50,000 to support their missions dedicated to improving health outcomes.

As part of the 25th anniversary of the inception of the US-based IMPACT Awards, GSK increased the award from $40,000 per nonprofit to $50,000, for a total of $1 million donated in 2021. To date, GSK has awarded over $13 million in unrestricted funding to local nonprofits across the two regions that are home to its US corporate hubs.

“Nonprofits are critical for connecting people in RTP and Philadelphia with vital services including housing, food, employment, education and youth mentoring,” said Maya Martinez-Davis, President, US Pharmaceuticals at GSK. “We are pleased and honored to expand our support of many of these outstanding organizations so they can continue to make a difference for people and communities across these two regions far into the future.”

The awards are unrestricted, meaning nonprofits may use the money for any purpose furthering their work.

In the Philadelphia region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in collaboration with Philadelphia Foundation (@PhilaFound).

“We have been a proud partner of GSK’s IMPACT Awards for many years,” said Pedro A. Ramos, Philadelphia Foundation President and CEO. “These unrestricted grants give nonprofits the additional funds needed to continue meeting increased community needs and ultimately improve lives across the Philadelphia region.”

In the RTP region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation (@TriComFdn).

“We are so fortunate to have a corporate partner like GSK right here in the Triangle region that understands the importance of supporting the capacity of nonprofits,” said Triangle Community Foundation President & CEO Lori O’Keefe. “In order to achieve our mission of a better Triangle for all residents, relationships like the one we have with GSK are crucial.”
